Knocking On Heaven’s Door Guitar Lesson

Hi guys, David Aldridge here. Welcome to knocking on heaven’s door. Guitar tutorial.

This song is originally by Bob Dylan and is the perfect song for beginner guitarists and consists of four chords. You’ll get to impress all your family and friends with this one. I appreciate you for taking the time for being here today. So let’s jump straight in showing you each cord and where to place your fingers. And you can also follow the core boxes that are on the screen. So we’re going to, first of all, find G so the third finger goes here. The third frat little finger at the third fret. The second finger goes on string six at frat three, and then the first finger goes on. String five, the second frat on this cord, we want a string, all six strings.

Okay, there we go. That’s G and then we’re gonna change the D and what we can do here is we can lead the third finger down, cause that’s already in the correct place. I refer to this as an anchor finger, and then we’re gonna place the first finger on string three of fret, two rings three at fret two. And then the second finger is gonna go on string one at fret two. Now on the chord of D, we string from string four only. Okay. So the next cord is a minor. So we’re gonna place the first finger on string two at frat one. Then the second finger is gonna go on string four at frat two, and then we’re gonna tuck the third finger underneath on string three at fret two. And then we want a strummed string five, and we have the cord of a minor. So just one more cord left to do, which is C. So we’re gonna place our third finger on string five at fret three. And then our second finger is gonna go on string four at fret two. And then the first finger is gonna go on string two at fret one like this, and then we’re gonna strum from string five.

Okay. So let’s jump into the next part of the tutorial where we gonna piece all that together. So we’re gonna do four down strums on G then we’re gonna change to D and you can see here that we’re gonna keep this finger on the second string and we can just fall onto D just making sure we’re trimming from string four. So four down strums on D and then we’re gonna change to a minor, and we’re gonna do another set of four on a minor. And then we’re gonna jump back to the chord of G and then change to D and this time we’re gonna change to C in two sets of four. All right. So that’s the chord progression sequence all the way through the song. So you might want to just practice that. First of all, just cementing those chords. I’m gonna show you a strumming pattern that can be used for this song. Consider giving us a like, and subscribe to the channel. So we’re going keep with the four down strums, but after the fourth downstream, we’re gonna add up strums. Just play along with me. If you can. I hope you had fun as I taught you this song today. Hey guys, welcome back. We are going to start learning how to read music. In Step one, you’ll learn all the names of the notes and the most common symbols. This symbol is called a trouble clef and the trouble clef goes at the beginning of the music. These five lines are called the staff and are not to be mistaken for the guitar strings in music. We only use part of the alphabet from a to G

Remember the letter names of each note. We use lines and spaces. This means that the notes can sit on the lines and in between the spaces we call this pitch and the pitch goes up and down. Here are the notes in the spaces and yes, it spells face. And we have a cool sentence for the notes on the lines. Every good boy deserves fruit. A time signature tells us how many beats we have in each bar. And the music is divided up bar by lands the double bar lines. Tell us that it’s the end of the song. Hey, don’t forget you have what it takes. Step two,

Understanding the time values of each note or the most common notes. Let’s look at some note values. This note is called a whole note and it is worth four beats. We can only have one of these in a bar of four, four. This is a half-note worth. Two beats. We can have two beats in, in a bar. The quarter note is one beat and we have four of these in a bar. Let’s put these into practice. So to be sure to have your guitar ready, you’ll get to play along with me. And we’ll start reading some music. This note is E and is the first string opened. Let’s practice plucking this a few times before we go on to reading the hall half and quarter notes, just play along with me. Now we’re gonna take a look at half notes, and now we’re gonna practice some quarter notes. Now let’s try combinations. And again, just play along with me.
